About This Expedition
One of the most thrilling tourist adventures in the world: crossing the Empty Quarter, covering approximately 1,200 kilometers through the sandy dunes of the world's largest sand desert. Starting from the northwestern part (Haradh), passing through Umm Al-Hadid, all the way to the center of Shabita in the southeastern part, you will explore wells, oases, and towering sand dunes.
Crossing the Empty Quarter is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will add your name to the list of the few who have made this legendary journey. The nights here are unlike anywhere else — a sky filled with stars beyond imagination, and moonlit nights with their own enchanting magic.

6-Day Itinerary
Day 1 — Riyadh to Umm Al-Hadid
4:30 AM — Depart Riyadh at dawn; witness the magnificent sunrise over the desert.
6:00 AM — Breakfast in Al-Kharj city.
10:30 AM — Fuel stop at Um Athla station.
11:00 AM — Drive into Al-Shalafa — first encounter with the towering sand dunes.
3:30 PM — Arrive at Umm Al-Hadid, the legendary Meteorite Fall Site. Guided history walk.
6:00 PM — Dinner under the desert sky.
7:00 PM — Campfire, stargazing, and storytelling with fellow travellers.
Day 2 — Tawil Al-Khattam
5:00 AM — Wake-up and sunrise in Umm Al-Hadid.
6:00 AM — Arabic coffee, dates, and tea.
7:00 AM — Breakfast with a spectacular sunrise view.
8:00 AM — Journey towards Tawil Al-Khattam.
12:00 PM — Refreshment stop at Bir Jalaba.
3:30 PM — Arrive at Bir Tawil Al-Khattam; dune walks and sunset views.
4:00 PM — Unique relaxation in a natural sulfurous hot Jacuzzi in the Empty Quarter.
5:00 PM — Dune hiking adventure.
6:00 PM — Dinner. 7:00 PM — Campfire under the stars.
Day 3 — Bayda Al-Lahi
5:00 AM — Wake-up.
6:00 AM — Arabic coffee and dates.
7:00 AM — Breakfast with sunrise.
8:00 AM — Depart towards Bayda Al-Lahi.
9:00 AM — Brief stop at Qalma Um Quroon for views.
3:30 PM — Camp at Bayda Al-Lahi. Visit the historic Bayda Al-Lahi well. Sand walking. Fire kindling.
6:00 PM — Dinner. 7:00 PM — Campfire with music and storytelling.
Day 4 — Munjour / Al-Qaad / Um Ahesh
5:00 AM — Wake-up; feel the spirit of the desert.
7:00 AM — Breakfast.
8:00 AM — Head towards Munjour — towering dunes await.
9:00 AM — Cross into Al-Qaad area; entirely new terrain.
11:30 AM — Coffee and tea break in the dunes.
4:00 PM — Camp at Um Ahesh — serene and magical desert sanctuary.
4:30 PM — Dune hiking and exploration.
6:00 PM — Dinner under a star-filled, light-pollution-free sky.
Day 5 — Al-Kudn Area / Qalma Fatimah
5:00 AM — First to witness the magnificent sunrise.
7:00 AM — Breakfast in the desert.
9:00 AM — Set off; enjoy the scenery at Qalma Fatimah.
11:30 AM — Coffee, tea, and light meal at Qalma Fatimah.
3:30 PM — Camp in the Al-Kudn area; breathtaking sunset.
6:00 PM — Dinner. 7:00 PM — Campfire and star-gazing.
Day 6 — Return to Riyadh
5:00 AM — Final desert morning.
7:00 AM — Breakfast; share memories and stories.
8:00 AM — Begin the return journey towards Riyadh.
3:00 PM — Lunch stop in Haradh.
5:00 PM — Arrive in Riyadh. Expedition complete. Welcome to the few who have crossed the Empty Quarter.
Key Geographical Sites
This route traverses some of the most significant and dramatic locations in the Rub al Khali — the world's largest contiguous sand desert, spanning over 650,000 km². Each waypoint on this expedition holds geological, historical, or cultural significance.
The Rub al Khali spans Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE, and Yemen. This route crosses the Saudi interior from northwest (Haradh) to the southeastern dune fields — approximately 1,200 km of continuous sand terrain.

All expeditions are led by an experienced local guide with decades of Empty Quarter navigation experience. Convoy discipline is maintained at all times. Emergency evacuation protocols are briefed on Day 1. This is a physically demanding multi-day expedition — participants should be in good health.
